Indian Gaming Community Under Scrutiny: Journalist Exposes Troubling Behavior

In the wake of the recent controversy involving Carnival Gaming’s Suraj “Neyoo” Majumdar, independent journalist Deepika Bhardwaj has brought further disturbing instances in the gaming community to light. Through a series of posts on her X handle, Bhardwaj shared additional clips highlighting inappropriate and alarming behavior from notable figures in the Indian esports scene.

Deepika Bhardwaj Exposes Troubling Behavior in the Indian Gaming Community

The first clip featured Ankita C, who is now a content creator for S8UL Esports but was not affiliated with the organization at the time of the incident in 2018. The footage shows Ankita using a barrage of cuss words in a fit of anger, reflecting poorly on her conduct and raising questions about the behavior of content creators in the community.

The second clip, dating back to 2021, involves Manoj “Sentinel” Kashyap, the owner of Team Mahi. In the clip, Sentinel made shocking and deeply upsetting comments during a live stream. When viewers mentioned a cheating incident, Sentinel responded with a disturbing threat, stating that anyone who brought up the topic would be physically abused worse than ‘Nirbhaya,’ a victim of a heinous gang rape and murder in 2012. This statement, understandably, drew widespread condemnation and highlighted the severity of inappropriate conduct.

Following these revelations, Bhardwaj posted a comment: “Razia gundo mein phas gayi types feeling aa rahi hai. These gaming competitors sharing videos of each other with me to pull the other one down. All of them have gamers using extreme language. No one clean. I’m told that’s how the gaming community is. Appalled some abuser even met Mr. Modi.”

Bhardwaj’s expose has sparked significant debate and introspection within the esports and gaming industry. Her statement has brought forth the troubling culture of toxic behavior and language that appears prevalent among some prominent figures in the community. The notion of competitors sharing incriminating videos to tarnish each other’s reputations further showcases a pervasive issue of animosity and discord.

These revelations have prompted a broader discussion about the need for higher standards of conduct and accountability in the gaming community.
