Stewie2K Reveals the “Military” Atmosphere in G2’s CS2 Team

Can G2 Overcome Internal Issues?

Winning IEM Dallas as a stand-in with G2 esports has put Jake “Stewie2K” Yip back on the map after a hiatus from professional Counter-Strike. However, his stint with the European side has resulted in strange revelations about the G2 squad.

G2 Esports houses what many believe to be the best AWPer and the best Rifler in the game, but that hasn’t been reflected in their results. G2 has struggled to win tournaments with IEM Dallas being their first trophy since CS2 was released despite ending their CSGO journey on a high note.

Stew has always been a player who lifts the mood in a team and is known for having an attitude that fans love to see on the server. However, when you put a hype machine like him in a squad that has a corporate culture, things may not go as smoothly.

“The first day I got there in practice, not many people were talking, it feels a little tense,” said Stew. “There’s not a whole lot of fun going on. When people go over things, it’s almost a military type of vibe”.

“It’s a one-man show, no-one is really enjoying their time here, it kind of feels like a 9-5. People are clocking in and clocking out. I know that vibes like that… It’s not a real team” he added.

He further delved into the fact that how he felt that the head coach TaZ wasn’t the right fit for a team of superstars like G2. TaZ wasn’t given the room to freely express his opinions and point the team in a certain direction.

Despite a plethora of issues, Stewie2K came out on the top in Dallas along with the rest of the G2 side. While Dallas may not have been the most prestigious of CS tournaments, it announces to the world that G2 is still a side to be reckoned with despite the results not being on their side.
