Black Myth: Wukong has become more popular than other single-player games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring and has reached over 2.13M concurrent players, according to data tracker SteamDB.
Black Myth: Wukong is the newest action role-playing game from Game Science that has broken records in less than 24 hours after its release and quickly rose to the position of the second most popular title ever on Steam. These numbers rival multi-player games that often boast high concurrent player count which goes to show how insane its launch day was. It has surpassed the likes of Palworld (2.101 million) and Counter-Strike 2 (1.818 million) by a huge margin and no one saw it coming.
Being developed in China, their massive population has played a big part in the game’s early success and this figure will grow in the coming days. Coming off from its release day, the game has managed to retain a large player base but given this is a single-player game, the number of concurrent players will have to come down eventually but as things stand, they are riding the waves of enormous success.
The game developers are backed by one of the biggest gaming studios in the world, namely Tencent, which gives them the resources and experience that will definitely help the game reach greater heights than it has already achieved.
Despite its success, the game seems to be riddled with bugs but the developers have promised to fix them with future updates. Some of the readily apparent ones have already been ironed out however the more persistent issues are yet to be fixed. Given the way the developers are handling this, we can expect a more stable version with every update.
